Training School 2025 (Online)
Training School on “Metabarcoding of Plant Microbiomes I: Foundations, Methods, and Applications”
We warmly invite researchers and students to join the first in a series of training schools dedicated to metabarcoding and metagenomics of plant microbiomes under COST CA22158 project. This online training school provides an excellent opportunity to gain fundamental and advanced knowledge about metabarcoding and its specific applications in plant microbiome research. Experienced lecturers from renowned institutions will guide you through critical topics, including experimental design, choice of phylogenetic markers, and sequencing technologies. Special attention will be given to methodological challenges unique to plant microbiome analysis, such as chloroplast and mitochondrial contamination. Additionally, participants will gain an overview of basic bioinformatics tools and pipelines necessary for data analysis.
The training covers both established sequencing technologies, such as Illumina, and innovative approaches like Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT). While focusing specifically on plant microbiomes, the information presented will also be valuable to those interested in metabarcoding methods more generally.
The training will take place online via ZOOM, ensuring accessibility from anywhere. Please note that the number of participants is limited, and registration approval is required. To participate, kindly complete the registration form below. We look forward to your participation and a productive training experience!
